A Little Bit About Me

Anoushka Nanguy, known as ‘Noushy’ is a 21 year old trombonist and singer from Glasgow. She currently resides in Glasgow and is currently studying jazz trombone at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Noushy is part of the party-jazz group/collective ‘Astrosnax’ in which she is the front woman. She is emerging as a prominent member of the Glasgow jazz/music scene, regularly showing face and playing at jams and gigs that take place all around the city. Noushy is also plays trombone with the SNJO and is getting more and more work as a freelance musician. She has recently joined the horn section for rapper ‘Kobi Onyame’ band in which she has played various festivals with. Noushy has a wide range of influences listening to and playing music from the likes of Pharoah Sanders, Melba Liston, Kenny Garrett to Maurice Brown, Jill Scott and rapper, Noname. Through these influences she has over the past few years developed a style in her playing and singing which is distinctive, recognisable and unique. Recently she has been writing her own music for her quartet, making it a strong focus for her, allowing her musicality to be displayed and expressed on the personal they were written for.
